Do you want to spend less time resizing your images in Photoshop? Instead of doing all the work manually for each and every image, you can create a Photoshop action to resize images for you. However, you would likely find yourself creating more actions than just one to cover your needs. Alternatively, you can take a look at our bundle of actions that can do it for you with just a few clicks.
Use Photoshop Action to Batch Resize Images
If you have a bulk of images to resize, then you can make Photoshop go through them all and apply an action to all the images in the same folder. The actions resize in multiple steps and apply a little sharpening in between to give you the best results when resizing and sharpening for web use.
You will find the batch processing feature by going to File > Automate > Batch…
Note that in batch processing, you need to use one of the actions that is called “…+ Save”.
These actions save the image in JPG 80% quality. If you want a different quality, go to the actions panel, and unfold the specific action. When you double click on the step in the action that saves the image, then the record button is activated, and whatever settings you change is recording in the action.
After that, you can use the action for batch processing with your own settings. This is also the way to go if you want to deactivate a single step in one of the actions before batch resizing. For instance, you might want to change the amount of sharpening applied by the sharpen filter.
Is There a Photoshop Action that can Resize on the Longest side?

All our web sharpening and resizing actions are grouped together in one action set. Just click on the folder icon to see the resizing actions in one place.
Note: If you resize your image, and save over the original files, the image data is lost forever.
We are not responsible for any loss of image quality. You should either resize copies of the original or avoid saving the original when resizing.
